Cookie policy
This website sets no cookies at all. Last updated 15 October 2026.
Not “only essential ones”, and not “none for now”. There is no cookie on this site, which is why the notice at the bottom of the screen has a single button and no settings panel: there is nothing to configure.
What a cookie is, briefly
A cookie is a small file a website asks your browser to keep and to send back with every request. Sites use them to recognise you between pages, to keep you signed in, and — most of the time — to follow you from site to site so that advertising can be aimed at you. A cookie is not the only way a site can store something in your browser: it can also use local storage, which works in a similar way but is never sent back automatically.
Under the UK GDPR, the EU GDPR and the ePrivacy Directive, cookies and similar storage that are not strictly necessary need your consent before they are set. We avoid the question entirely by not setting any.
What this site stores
One thing, and it is not a cookie. When you close the storage notice, a single flag is written to your browser's local storage so that the notice does not reappear on every page you visit.
| Name | Type | What it does | How long |
|---|---|---|---|
| riblinked_storage_notice | Local storage, not a cookie | Records that you closed the storage notice, so it is not shown again. The value is the single word acknowledged. It contains nothing about you, and it is never sent to us or to anybody else. |
Until you clear your browser data, or until you delete it yourself |
What we do not use, and why it matters
- No analytics. There is no Google Analytics, no Plausible, no Matomo, no heat-mapping script and no session recorder on any page. We do not know how many people read this page, and we have decided that is an acceptable price for not watching you read it.
- No advertising or tracking pixels. No Meta pixel, no TikTok pixel, no LinkedIn tag, no remarketing tag. Nothing here reports your visit to an advertising network.
- No third-party fonts. The typefaces on this site are served from our own server, not from Google Fonts. That matters more than it sounds: a page that loads fonts from a third party tells that third party your IP address and which page you are reading, before you have agreed to anything. Self-hosting them means reading this page does not disclose you to anyone but us.
- No embedded video or social widgets. No YouTube iframe, no embedded map, no share buttons that phone home. Each of those would set cookies belonging to somebody else the moment the page loaded.
- No sign-in cookie on this site. This website is the public storefront: it has no login of its own and therefore no session cookie. When accounts are connected, a session cookie will be added to the table above and this page will say so — a strictly necessary one, set only after you sign in.
Our own server logs
Like almost every website, ours records requests in a log file: the IP address the request came from, the page asked for, the time, and the browser's user-agent string. This is not stored in your browser and it is not a cookie — it is a file on our server, and you cannot be identified from it by any third party. We use it to keep the site running, to work out what broke, and to block abuse. The privacy policy gives the retention period.
How to remove or block storage
You do not need our permission, and nothing on this site will break if you refuse storage entirely — the only effect is that the notice reappears on each page.
- Chrome: Settings › Privacy and security › Third-party cookies, and “See all site data and permissions” to delete what is already stored.
- Safari: Settings › Privacy, then Manage Website Data to remove individual entries.
- Firefox: Settings › Privacy & Security › Cookies and Site Data.
- Edge: Settings › Cookies and site permissions › Manage and delete cookies and site data.
Your browser's private or incognito mode discards everything when you close the window. Deleting the single entry named above is equivalent to never having visited.
Changes to this policy
If we ever add storage of any kind, it goes in the table above with what it does and how long it lasts, and anything that is not strictly necessary will be off until you turn it on. The date at the top of this page will change at the same time.
