Say the true thing
If we have not checked something, we say so. If a feature does not exist yet, we do not describe it as though it does. This costs us a certain amount of shine, and it is the only way a dating site can be worth trusting.
riblinked is run by a dating agency based in the United Kingdom, with an office in New York. This page is about how we work, and about the claims we have deliberately chosen not to make.
Dating sites have settled into a shape, and the shape is not in anybody's interest except the company's. A card you swipe without reading, a match counter that goes up whether or not anything happened, a paid boost that quietly decides who gets seen. None of that helps you meet someone. It helps you keep opening the app.
riblinked is built the other way round. Profiles are pages you read rather than cards you dismiss. There is no feed, no ranking, and no timer. The person you write to is someone you chose on purpose, after reading what they wrote — which is, as far as we can tell, how people over forty actually prefer to do this.
Adults who are past the stage of dating as a sport. People who have been married, or widowed, or simply busy for twenty years, and who would like some company without having to become a different person to get it.
We are not trying to be the biggest dating site. We are trying to be one where the profiles are written by the people in them, and where you are not being nudged into paying for the privilege of being seen.
Almost every dating site opens with a number: so many members, so many matches, so many relationships. It is worth knowing how those numbers are usually produced. Profiles are generated, or recycled from a demo, or counted once and never recounted, and photographs are bought by the dozen. The number is a marketing asset, not a fact about the site.
So we are not going to put a number here. Not because we are being coy, but because the honest number is one we would have to make up, and you would have no way of checking it. When there is something true and verifiable to say about how many people use riblinked, we will say it and we will show our working.
The short version: we ask for the things we need in order to run a dating site, we do not sell any of it, and there is no advertising network or analytics tracker anywhere on these pages. Our fonts are served from our own server rather than from a third party, so simply reading this page does not tell anybody else that you were here.
The long version is the privacy policy, and the cookie policy is short enough to read in a minute.
If we have not checked something, we say so. If a feature does not exist yet, we do not describe it as though it does. This costs us a certain amount of shine, and it is the only way a dating site can be worth trusting.
Every field we add is another thing that can leak, be sold, or be demanded in a breach. If we cannot explain why we need a piece of information, we do not collect it.
You can delete your profile yourself, turn off the emails without deleting anything, and cancel anything you have paid for without a phone call to a retention team. Being able to leave easily is what makes it reasonable to stay.
If that sounds like the kind of place you would use, it costs nothing to look.
