Questions people actually ask.
Including the ones where the honest answer is less flattering than the marketing answer. If yours is not here, write to us and we will add it.
Is joining really free?
Yes. Creating a profile, browsing and being found cost nothing, and we do not ask for a card during registration. You can see the whole site without paying anything.
If we ever introduce a feature that costs money, the price will be shown on this site before you can be charged, and something you have already written will not be locked behind it afterwards.
Do I have to be 18?
Yes, strictly. riblinked is for adults only, we ask for your date of birth when you register, and an account belonging to someone under 18 is closed when we find out about it.
How do I know the people on here are real?
You do not, and we are not going to tell you otherwise. We do not check identity documents or run criminal record checks, and nobody here has been interviewed before joining.
What we can tell you is that we do not create profiles for people who do not exist. We do not fill the site with invented members or stock photographs to make it look busy — that practice is common enough in this industry that it is worth saying out loud, and it is one of the reasons a dating site full of obviously fake profiles feels so unpleasant to use.
Treat every profile as a stranger's account of themselves, and read our safety page before you meet anyone.
Can I stop people from seeing my profile?
Yes. You control whether your profile is visible to everybody or only to people you have already accepted. You can change it whenever you like, and it takes effect straight away.
Do you sell my data?
No. We do not sell your personal data and we do not pass it to advertising networks. There is no third-party tracker on this site — no analytics script, no advertising pixel, not even a web font loaded from somebody else's server.
The privacy policy lists every field we hold and why, and the cookie policy is short because there is almost nothing in it.
Why does this site ask about sexual orientation?
It does not, and that is deliberate on our part — but it does ask who you would like to meet, which amounts to similar information.
Under data protection law that answer counts as special category data, which needs your explicit permission rather than a general “I accept the terms”. So we ask for it separately, in plain words, and you can withdraw it in your account settings at any time. If you would rather not answer, the site will still work.
How do I delete my profile?
From your account settings, yourself — you do not have to ask us and you do not have to explain why. Deleting your profile removes it from the site immediately.
If you would rather we did it for you, write to privacy@riblinked.com from the address on your account. If you only want the emails to stop, you can turn those off without deleting anything.
Someone is behaving badly. What do I do?
Tell us, using the contact page. Include the profile name and roughly when it happened, and paste in the messages that matter — we cannot act on a report we cannot see.
If you have been threatened, contact the police first. We are not an emergency service and we cannot respond as quickly as one.
Do you run background checks on members?
No. We have no access to criminal records, and we do not ask members to send us identity documents. Any dating site that tells you it has “verified” its members is usually describing something much smaller than the word suggests — a confirmed email address, or a photograph.
Our safety page sets out the full list of what we do and do not check.
Is riblinked available where I live?
riblinked is run by a dating agency based in the United Kingdom, with an office in New York, and it is written in English. We are set up for members in the UK, Ireland and the United States, and people do join from further afield.
If you are outside those countries, the practical question is whether there is anyone near enough to meet. That is worth checking before you put time into a profile.
Call +1 718 778 0996 or use the contact form. Questions sent to us are the reason this list keeps growing.
Nothing here put you off?
Writing a profile takes a few minutes, and it costs nothing.
